Gazette Gossip for Feb. 10

I have to admit Super Bowl XLV was flat out wacky. Ticket drama, two former NFL players about to duke it out at the NFL Experience on Feb. 5 (yes, ESPN College Gameday analysis Desmond Howard called the law on former New York Giant Phil Simms because Simms threatened to hit Howard after Simms got wind that Howard said some derogatory things on Gameday about Simms’ boy, University of Tennessee QB Matt Simms), North Texas became Antarctica, Prince was a no-show at a $1,500 ticket fundraiser and Christina Aguilera’s remix has us glad the Super Bowl is OVER! Read on …

The Poor Star-Spangled Banner
Our nation’s beloved anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner, took another hit at the Super Bowl. Remember last year’s rendition by country singer Carrie Underwood? She jacked the song up at the end, but at least she didn’t forget the words like Aguilera. Christina took a page out of R. Kelly’s book with that original remix. The day after Aguilera’s butchering of the anthem, I watched the players’ reaction on a video clip as the slip up occurred. Green Bay Packers linebacker Matt Wilhelm glanced at one of his teammates with a “what the hell was that?” look on his face. I wonder who has a better chance of being part of a Super Bowl ever again, North Texas or Aguilera?

Moving on
Seems that in Eva Longoria’s mind, Tony Parker is a distant memory. The paparazzi recently snapped the actress on a yacht in Miami locking lips with her new studdly 25-year-old man, Eduardo Cruz, younger brother of actress Penelope Cruz. Obviously, Longoria does not fear the cougar label. I just hope he ain’t a cheating dog like Parker.

Nowhere to run, baby
Halftime at a NBA game for a player is the ideal time to hear coach rally the guys for the second half. How about getting served with child support papers during halftime? That is embarrassing, just ask Orlando Magic guard Gilbert Arenas. His baby momma four times over, Laura Mendoza Govan (and yes she has a little muffin in the oven for Arenas as we speak), filed a request for $109,000 a month in child support payments from Arenas. According to CBS Sports, a server stopped Arenas as he walked off the floor and served him court documents regarding Govan’s petition. I read that Arenas had avoided previous attempts to have the papers served. A word to the wise: the law will always catch up with you – even on the j-o-b.
