Ladies first

First I would like to pay my tribute and the highest honor to Black women that I know or have known in my life. Again these women may not have done things that have made great changes for mankind, but they have made a big difference to me; I thank God for each of them and what they mean to me. Each lady has left me with cherished memories or is currently very precious and loved by me.

Mrs. Cedella Baker Demus, my mother; to this day, I thank God for every day that He allowed her to live and the wonderful memories that she left behind for her family and friends. Mrs. Jessie Baker Green, my aunt, a great mother. My mother’s best friend all of her life. The late Mrs. Ida Rutherford Demus and Mrs. Maggie Smith Baker; my grandmothers; I had the privilege of knowing both, although not for long but it wasn’t the length of time I knew them; it was the quality of time that I was with them. Minister Sheila Tarpley Lott, my daughter, she is doing God’s work. She is a great mother to three of my precious grandchildren and wonderful wife to Bill. My sisters, Nurse Eloyd Avery, Beautician Billie Daye, Evangelist Ida Eggins, and Teacher Rose Fielding; they are the greatest and can’t be beat. Mrs. Phemia Solomon Tinner, a great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a wonderful godmother to my daughter and a great friend to me.
