Dallas Bar Association builds 21st Habitat for Humanity House

The Dallas Bar Association recently dedicated its 21st house for Habitat for Humanity. The DBA Home Project Committee, led by co-chairs Brad Johnson, of L. Bradley Johnson, PLLC, and KC Ashmore, of Chamblee, Ryan, Kershaw & Anderson, P.C., is a committee of the Dallas Bar Association that partners with Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity (DAHfH) to sponsor and build a Habitat home each spring. The Dallas Bar Association is the longest running whole-house sponsor.

Dallas Bar Association President Paul K. Stafford turned over the keys to the owners of the 2012 DBA Habitat House—the Green family: Stephanie and Zacchaus and their sons, Zakiah (10), Zamyrion (8) and Zayvia (4).

With numerous attorneys, judges and other legal professionals participating in the build and donating money, more than $30,000 has been raised so far this year, putting the Home Project Committee well on its way to meeting its goal of $60,000.
The project began in 1991 when the DBA decided to adopt an additional community service project—one that would motivate, inspire and benefit the Dallas community. Volunteer attorneys have carried the torch since, making the project what it is today: a coordinated effort by hundreds of attorneys from firms across Dallas, each giving their time and money to support the cause of affordable, decent housing. The central theme is that no commitment of time or money is too small; every hour and every dollar make a difference.
