Talk about nonsensical, That’s My Boy proves to be that at its best. You may find yourself uncomfortably laughing, but this movie keeps a comedic tone with a sick twisted fate.
Adam Sandler plays Donny Burger, who gets his math teacher pregnant while in middle school. Obviously Burger is not the best dad and while being absent during most of his son’s life he wants to reunite with him. This proves to be troublesome for them both as the most taboo events occur. Burger’s son, who is going by the alias Todd (Andy Samberg), is getting married very soon.
The wedding guests come together for absurdity and disgust in this movie. Some audience members will perhaps find it distasteful, but the movie keeps the audience locked in the action – even if maybe all for the wrong reasons. A few examples include: you have a middle school boy impregnating his teacher, an elderly woman who provides sexual pleasure for two men, masturbation, a sinful and violent priest, and incest.
Todd is smart and financially well off. His father, who was once a known sensation for banging his teacher and still known and even respected by some for this feat, locates Todd and they spend time together at the summer home of Todd’s boss.
To stick with some normalcy along the story line, Donny owes back taxes of $43,000, which he needs to pay to keep from going to jail. Although he’s always loved his son, this is a key reason he reached out to Todd in the first place.
Ex-rapper “Vanilla Ice” appears in this movie and is probably the most genuine comedic fix of the movie. To true Adam Sandler fans, even you might find yourself unsatisfied with the delivery of the performances given in this movie. Not to mention the high level of vulgarity. However the likeable beer-drinking and womanizing Sandler definitely adds hipness to his son’s square behavior.
Definitely not fit for an immature audience, this movie provides the highest level of sexual suggestive language, nudity, violence, profane language and graphic content without getting a stronger rating than the R received.
If you must see That’s My Boy, I give it 2 stars and you may want a beer afterwards, or use and dispose of the bottle in an unfashionably way!
