The Canadian-born rapper, once featured in the television series DeGrassi as the handicap student, Jimmy Brooks, is now back in school for real this time to finish up something long overdue: his high school diploma.
Although the rapper is currently signed to Young Money as a recording artist, he knows that having a high-school diploma or GED is something that could never be replaced. It’s never too late, as Drake will put it- “I’m actually spending my summer graduating high school. That’s my main focus after OVO Fest. I only have one credit left, and I’m really excited about that”.
So as gangster and street the rapper’s lyrics may sound, he does genuinely believe in completing his education, even if it is just a high school diploma.
Having it all means much more than the women, money, fame, fans, and cars for the rapper. Obtaining his GED may be a personal thing for him, but he is sure to inspire his peers who are too high-school dropouts and the other generations to come. Possibly college in the near future?
Whatever Drake decides, it is nice to know that the rapper does think about his education and will invest the time to finish- even it does not mean a difference in money for the rapper. We can see how much an education really means to him.
He is still doing his music thing and has just put out a new single with the late Aaliyah, titled, “Enough Said”. Music and education is not a bad combination at all. In fact, that’s what’s up. Go here to listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HNgVmHSuVM
