On Saturday, August 18 at the Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, the Mid-Cities Texas Chapter of The Links, Incorporated hosted its 20th Annual fund-raiser “A Knock-Out Affair”: Black-Tie Boxing Event.
The Honorary Chairpersons for “Round XX” were former Texas Ranger, Mark McLemore and Mrs. Capri McLemore, Community Service Champion.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Mid-Cities Texas Chapter’s Elements of Chemistry Club, EC2 , an after school program aimed at building interest and knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math among at-risk students, the Chapter’s Scholarship Fund and other community service projects.
General Chairpersons of the event were Vickie Mitchell and Sherel Riley. Chapter President Marnese Barksdale Elder acknowledged the community and corporate supporters of the event in saying, “This 20th year marks a celebration for all who contribute to our fundraising efforts to reach those who need our mentorship, resources, scholarships and programs. Twenty years of partnership and collaboration with community organizations, corporate sponsors and guests who have supported us year after year solidifies the need to continue to execute one of the Metropolitan areas most successful fundraising endeavors. We thank the Dallas/ Fort Worth community for twenty years of continuous support.”
