Paul Quinn to host highly anticipated Greek & Alumni Day vs. Texas College on Saturday

The battle on the hardwood between Paul Quinn College (9-12) and Texas College (18-6) will be intense, and the atmosphere in the stands will be energized with a sea of Paul Quinn purple and gold, Greek letters as well as the sounds of the Lincoln High School band.  Paul Quinn will host Greek Day & Alumni when the Tigers battle the Steers on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Paul Quinn.  Paul Quinn’s I-20 rivals won the season’s first match on January 5, 109-82.

“The Paul Quinn–Texas College rivalry has been a respected and spirited tradition for well over 60 years and we annually look forward to this battle among long time conference foes,” said Maurice West, and alum of Paul Quinn and the College’s Dean of Men.  “It’s a little more than a game, it’s a community and family outing as so many students from both schools are from the DFW area and graduates have made their homes here also.”

The College is calling on members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities and sororities and alumni to converge on the South Dallas campus to enjoy what is anticipated to be a typically spirited contest between the Tigers and the Steers.  The National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations, also known as the “Divine Nine”, consist of:  Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

Lincoln High School’s band will serve as the guest entertainment.  The band will perform during the game with the dance team and flag corps performing at halftime.  Admission to the game is $5 for the general public and $3 for senior citizens and children under 12 years of age.  Paul Quinn is located at 3837 Simpson Stuart Road.
