Mighty Times: Remembering Rosa Parks

Join the South Dallas Cultural Center as they celebrate Mrs. Rosa Parks 100th birthday and the recent unveiling of a US Postal stamp in her honor. The event will be hosted at the Aya Senior Housing located at 2607 Jefferies St in South Dallas at 10 a.m. on Feb. 23.

Seniors and guests will enjoy the award winning film A Mighty Times: Legacy of Rosa Parks followed by civil rights trivia games, healthy snacks and popular of music from 1963.

So you think you know Rosa Parks? Actually most of us know only the media driven image of a timid little Black lady who did not want to stand up on the bus because she was tired and her feet were hurting. That is not simply who she was, as the film will spotlight.

Mrs. Parks was a life-long activist part of an organized movement to end legally sanctioned racial discrimination.  Her courage, activism and defiance, changed the way of life for hundreds of thousands and the U.S. Postal Service unveiled a stamp honoring her legacy on Dec. 4, her 100th birthday.
