Application deadline for UTD summer camps is April 30

Exodus Campbell previously participated in a UT Dallas summer camp.

This summer, UT Dallas plays host to more than two dozen summer camps geared toward K-12 students with interests in robotics, chess, sports and more. Some students will build a solar car and others will operate unmanned flying vehicles.

Through the camp activities, students become acquainted with the UT Dallas campus while having fun and exploring new learning opportunities, said Raul Hinojosa, director of Community Engagement at UT Dallas.

“One of the great things about our summer camps is that they are very diverse, with many different types of opportunities for students and community members to take advantage of,” Hinojosa said. “And thanks to a generous gift from Ericsson, this year we can offer scholarships to help students who, for financial reasons, might not otherwise be able to attend a summer camp.”

The application deadline for a UT Dallas Summer Camp Experience Scholarship is April 30.

Camps run from June through August. Registration deadlines and costs vary. See UT Dallas’ summer camp website for details.

Middle and high school students can choose from several academic camps, including sessions on math, science, crime-scene investigation, computer science and debate.

Chess and robotics camps are among the sessions offered for younger kids.

For children dealing with articulation and communication issues, or with autism spectrum disorders, UT Dallas’ Callier Center for Communication Disorders offers several opportunities, including speech and listening sessions to assist children who have cochlear implants.

UT Dallas’ residence halls offer a home away from home for children interested in intensive residential summer camps, including advanced sports and career explorations.
