Any of my friends will tell you my favorite song these days is Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, despite the fact I cannot clearly understand have the lyrics. It is the classic example of what you told your mom back in the day when you blasted some of Prince’s racier songs, “I don’t know what they are saying, I just love the beat.” Lately critics are suggesting the song condones sexual assault. Most likely in reference to the line, “You know you want it.”

During a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Robin Thicke at first did not want to dignify the accusations with a response. But in the end Thicke discussed the meaning of the lyrics. He indicated the song reflects, “blurring the lines between men and women and how much we’re the same” and “blurred lines between a good girl and a bad girl.”

Thicke is marred to the lovely Paula Patton, a woman he said he has been with since his teen years and would never want to disrespect. In fact, to Thicke Blurred Lines speaks to the strong independent women like her, “My wife is as strong as I am, as smart, if not smarter, stronger and she’s an animal too! She doesn’t need a man to define her or to define her existence.”

  1. To myself, a song is a song. Lyrics do matter in meaning, but thinking about it,people are very opinionated on them. Meaning, people like to say this is what the song means and it can be the incorrect meaning, yet it gets around, then everyone has created this huge thing so that the media can cause a big deal. I seriously doubt Robin Thicke would create a song with such lyrics. However, this is my opinion. It is up to thicke to create or destroy and recreate a different meaning. No one else can can. It is his piece of art,and his only. I absolutely adore this man. He is a very handsome, talented man, with a very lucky wife. Please,, don’t exaggerate on the song and enjoy the talent and hard work out into it. I would die to meet such an inspirational person. Don’t destroy him.

  2. I really do not like this song at all. Sexual relationships are between a man and a wife. This Robin claims that he is married and loves his wife, well then why does he do that stuff with those other women in the video? This is not right. What you do is what you do , video or not.

  3. Love, breakups, friendship, and freedom are always popular.
Cocaine Blues was a real creation though, in that tune Cash has someone murdered before the first sentence is done.
Feelings, no matter how intense, are based on assumptions that are often highly subjective and may prove to be
    unrealistic, not useful or untrue.
