Many believe that it’s Mexico’s Independence Day, but this day is actually a tribute to a battle won in Puebla, Mexico where the outnumbered Mexican troops beat the French.
Porfirio Diaz, a future Mexican president pictured here, became known for his indispensable role in the victory against in French at the battle of Puebla on May 5, 1861.
