Ferguson Police refused to allow nurse to help Mike Brown

And the senselessness of the death of Michael Brown continues with the report that a neighbor, identified herself as a nurse. However, the Ferguson police officers on the scene, including Officer Darren Wilson the identified shooter, refused her offer  to help.

“Devin Stone, 28, a friend of Mr. Brown’s, was home in his apartment at the time, across the street from the place where the men were confronted by the police.

Sitting outside his building, Mr. Stone said he was jolted by the sound of two gunshots, followed by several more in rapid succession. The second series of shots “sounded automatic,” he said. “They let it rip.”

Mr. Stone ran outside and saw two police officers, both white men, standing near Mr. Brown, who was lying on his stomach, his arms at his sides, blood seeping from his head. Another neighbor, a woman who identified herself as a nurse, was begging the officers to let her perform CPR.

They refused, Mr. Stone said, adding, “They didn’t even check to see if he was breathing.””

  1. The likely didn’t want him breathing because they didn’t want him alive to speak against the shooting. I say this in light of the botched attempts by the Ferguson Police Chief to fabricate numerous and differing accounts of what happened at his press conferences. These bad cops give good cops bad reputations.

  2. IF THIS IS TRUE, CHARGE SHOULD BE MAN 1 WITH DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE. IT’S JUST WRONG AND AS THEY SAY WHAT YOU HIDE IN THE DARK WILL COME OUT IN THE LIGHT. THIS WHOLE POLICE DEPARTMENT SOUNDS CORRUPT NEEDS TO BE REVAMPED.

  3. He had already been pronounced dead and the area was a crime scene..

This is more evidence of the Media trying to stir up shit for ratings..

Was the Nurse a licensed Necromancer? No? Then it’s not a story..

  4. The two cops on the scene cannot “declare” someone dead — only a medical professional can do that.

UPDATE: Apparently the statement above is not correct. First, I used the wrong term – it is not declare, what I meant is more commonly referred to as “pronounce” someone is dead. Generally speaking the official declaration with time of death stuff comes from a medical professional or in consultation with them. Apparently it varies based on state and local laws. A paramedic, fireman, police officer etc. can notify health officials the victim appears dead and stop treatment under their direction. Then as Chris/Cameron said they can take needed steps to preserve the scene.

  5. @NDG Staff That is totally untrue, that varies by state to state. The police can declare someone dead if the signs point to that so they can preserve a crime scene in almost every state. I.e. no vitals and lack of positive grey matter. This article is horribly written and a means to try and stir up more controversy on this topic. You need to fact check this 100% before you put it out, otherwise you are opening yourself up to lawsuits.

  6. Chris (or Cameron),

You are right I should have added I think or believe at the end of my last comment because it was just opinion. I will modify that. Did not write the article, you will have to direct your concerns about the quality of the article to the New York Times.

  7. Please edit your articles, at least to the best of your abilities. No one is taking this article seriously; parts of it aren’t making sense, your spelling is awful, and facts need to be checked and presented. If you care about news and the facts you should do your best, not write something sloppy just to get your name out there.
