With the gorgeous strains of Chopin and Debussy providing a classical backdrop in the theatre center, executives from Steinway & Sons and Steinway Hall Dallas recently announced that Collin College has been added to the elite roster of All-Steinway Schools.

Faculty and music students could hardly wait to play on pianos designed by Steinway that now grace practice rooms, music studios, classrooms and performance venues throughout the college district.

“Being an All-Steinway School places Collin College in a leadership position for excellence in music education,” said Mac Hendricks, who chairs the Board of Trustees.

District President Cary Israel said the All-Steinway initiative reflects a strong commitment to the highest standards. “Our students deserve the very best, and Collin College will not permit anything less than the finest tools available to provide them with a quality education and to enrich the community that we so proudly serve,” he said.

Dr. Brian Allison, who heads the piano department, added that it would be impossible to exaggerate how much such beautiful instruments will influence the program going forward. “It would be like trying to measure the vast difference between day and night,” he said.

Sally Coveleskie, Steinway’s national director of higher education sales, made this point, “Throughout our more than 160 year history, pianos by Steinway & Sons have proven to be terrific investments and are often considered essential equipment for the study of music. With proper maintenance and care, these new instruments will serve students of Collin College for generations.”
