Lancaster ISD will host POWER-UP! – the annual Lancaster Mayor & Superintendent’s Back-to-School Fair and Community Festival on August 15, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lancaster High School Coliseum located at 200 East Wintergreen Road, Lancaster, Texas 75134. This annual event is designed to help our families to jumpstart the 2015-2016 academic school year.

As in the past, The Honorable Mayor Marcus E. Knight of the City of Lancaster and Superintendent Dr. Michael D. McFarland of the Lancaster Independent School District are partnering with the Lancaster Education Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce to host this a family-fun day of celebration, information, contests and games.

“This fair creates a single-stop opportunity to provide students and families with basic back to school needs in a festive atmosphere,” said Jacquinette Murphy, event coordinator. “Last year, the event served about 800 families and this year, we need your help tremendously as we attempt to serve more families. Our enrollment is increasing and so is the need to support our families.”

Specifically, attendees will have access to back to school resources such as uniforms, dental and vision screenings and other health services along with haircuts in a festive environment. There are groups performing, food, music, games and giveaways. Parents can also meet the campus and district staff, sign up for various clubs and district programs offered next year. College recruiters and career readiness team members will be on site as well as library, fire and child safety education services provided by the City of Lancaster staff.

New this year, Lancaster ISD parents requesting school supply assistance will need to show proof of residency and proof of income to complete the pre-event sign up in late July. Parents who have not completed the online enrollment process for the 2015-2016 should plan additional time to update their student’s registration information prior to submitting an application for school supplies.
