The Mid-Cities (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, will commemorate its 30th Anniversary with a Civic Luncheon at the Fairmont Hotel, Dallas on Friday, Aug. 14. The Links proudly welcome as keynote speaker Jo Ann Jenkins, chief executive officer of AARP. AARP is the world’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization dedicated to social change and helping people 50 and over to improve the quality of their lives.

The luncheon provides an opportunity to publically recognize and reward key organizations in the community. From its inception, The Links, Incorporated has addressed community service through educational, civic and intercultural commitment. As the Mid-Cities (TX) chapter celebrates its 30th anniversary that same commitment comes to the forefront.

We are proud to announce the following awardees: AARP, Attitudes and Attire-Boots to Heels, Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington, and Habitat for Humanity International, Irving Black Arts Council, Irving Cares and Wounded Warriors. In alignment with the focus areas of The Links, Incorporated, and these organizations were strategically selected based on the impact of their work in the arts, health and human services, services to youth, national and international trends. Chapter president, Veronica Spencer-Austin, shares her thoughts on the collective impact by saying “In celebration of this 30-year milestone, we recognize these charitable organizations, all of which are committed to eliminating disparities within our communities, and we award them a total of $30,000 to further advance their work.”

The Friday afternoon 30th Anniversary Civic Luncheon kicks off a weekend of giving back. The chapter’s signature 23rd annual fund-raiser ROUND XXIII: A Knock Out Affair takes place on Saturday evening August 15th also hosted at the Fairmont Hotel. This fundraising event largely supports the year round community impact of the Mid-Cities (TX) Chapter.

The luncheon begins at noon with limited seating. Tickets are available at $75 each. Please contact Marilyn Evans at midcitieslinks@yahoo.com.
