Nov. 18, 2015 – Collin College will provide job training for 192 new and current workers in partnership with Jack Henry & Associates and Emerson Process Management Regulator Technologies. The training is made possible by a $444,470 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Skills Development Fund.

“Through the training provided by Collin College, these Texas employers will be able to address identified job-training needs while enhancing the professional skills of their workers,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Ruth R. Hughs.

The grant is expected to provide information technology-related training for 160 current workers and create 32 new jobs. Trainees will include software engineers, computer programmers, industrial engineers and project managers.

“We are always honored when companies choose Collin College. We want to be the provider of choice for job skills training. Our training is top-notch and we will have the chance to show that in the next few months,” said Natalie Greenwell, director of the Center for Workforce and Economic Development at Collin College.

Jack Henry & Associates employees will be allowed time from their regular duties to partake in more than 10,000 hours of training. Emerson Process Management Regulator Technologies employees will receive training on the latest NX drafting software and WebEx communications software to improve client relations worldwide.

“On-the-job training is important, but it can’t replace education,” said Ann Puddister, general manager of human resources for Jack Henry & Associates. “In our business, which is technology for financial institutions, we have to stay ahead of the curve. So, it is important that we provide the education that our employees need to keep their certifications up.”

Collin College serves nearly 52,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide range of disciplines. The only public college in the county, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development. In addition, the college operates the Collin Higher Education Center, which serves 3,300 additional students each year in partnership with The University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas Tech and the University of North Texas.
