At their meeting on Nov. 23 right before Thanksgiving the Plano City Council members already had their eyes set on Easter. The council approved funding for the Texas Music Revolution, which will be held Friday and Saturday of Easter Weekend, March 25-26 2016 at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve. The Texas Music Revolution, produced by local radio station KHYI 95.3 is heading into its 20th year. The event had previously been hosted at Southfork Ranch. KHYI wanted to secure a location that would allow the event to grow. Two stages, one at the Oak Point Amphitheater, the other at the special events field off Spring Creek Parkway will be used.
The Council approved a five-year agreement with renewal options. The radio station will receive a cash advance of $100,000 annually under this agreement along with up to $85,000 of in-kind City services. The City will be responsible for food, beverage, and parking. KHYI will handle all other logistics.
This is an event with a solid track record and history. KHYI will provide an opportunity for the City to recover, partially or completely our investment in the event. Tickets are expected to go on sale around the beginning of 2016. Information will be updated at www.KHYI.com.
