City of Plano Now Offering Drivers Road Alerts

PrintThe City of Plano has launched a new alert system designed to keep drivers informed of changes regarding road construction.  The alerts are targeted toward drivers who live or work in Plano, who would like to receive texts and emails with maps.  The alerts provide an assortment of important imformation about lane, ramp closures, and other issues on Central Expressay (U.S. 75), Dallas North Tollway, Independence Parkway, K Avenue (SH 5), President George Bush Turnpike (SH 190), Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121), and Preston Road (SH 289).  Participants can sign up for specific thoroughfares. 
The types of alerts include:
 
·        Road construction
·        Lane closures lasting an extended period
·        Ramp closures lasting an extended period
·        Scheduled accident investigations that require traffic detours
·        Large special event road closures (festivals, races and parades)
·        Road debris
·        Unexpected accident investigations that require traffic detours
·        Signal outages lasting more than 2 hours
·        Chemical spills that require all lanes to be closed
