Dallas suspect arrested for killing woman for $100 cellphone

The Dallas Police Department reported the arrest of Lonzell Hunter, a 22-year-old Black man, for capital murder. Hunter reportedly agreed to meet the victim, Martha Teran, a 42-year-old Latin female, on Oct. 30. Teran used a selling website to arrange the sale of her cellphone to Hunter.

The meeting location selected was the parking lot at the Medival Times located at 2021 North Stemmons Freeway. When Hunter arrived, he shot Teran after taking her cellphone and then fled the scene. Witnesses called 911, Teran was taken to Parkland Hospital, but later died from her wounds.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify suspect Hunter and obtain an arrest warrant. This morning, Southwest patrol officers, along with taskforce officers from the U. S. Marshal Service, arrested Hunter. The police charged Hunter with capital murder and set the bond for $500,000.00.
