State Sen. Royce West, Banker Effie Dennison writing foreword, intro for Who’s Who in Black Dallas

State Senator and prominent attorney Royce West and Texas Capital Bank executive Effie Booker-Dennison will write the Foreword and Introduction respectively for the fourth edition of Who’s Who In Black Dallas, Associate Publisher Ken Carter announced this week.

“I am delighted and honored to be asked to write the Foreword for the fourth edition,” said Senator West, who also was featured as one of the Most Influential in 2016. “Recognizing the achievements of African-Americans in Dallas is significant.  Sharing my thoughts among those affiliated with Who’s Who In Black Dallas is very heart warming. ”

Dennison serves as Texas Capital Bank’s Director of Community Development and Corporate Responsibility, overseeing its Community Reinvestment Act initiatives and the administration of its compliance and charitable donation/grant program. She is also President and Chairman of the Texas Capital Community Development Corporation that makes commercial loans and equity investments in low to moderate income areas statewide.

Ken Carter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Focus Communications, a 37-year-old minority-owned public relations, public affairs, marketing and crisis communications firm, has worked closely with the Detroit, Michigan based company since its inaugural issue in 2012. This is his third time serving as it Associate Publisher. He will be responsible for all aspects of its operations in Dallas including advertising and sponsorship sales, promotion, and editorial content according to Womack.

“Ken’s wealth of skills and marketplace knowledge is responsible for our success in Dallas. He knows the city exceedingly well, the people and he and his team know us so it was a natural partnership that continues,” said Womack.

“I truly enjoy this project as there is no other platform like it,” said Carter. “I am meeting so many African Americans who have made and are making tremendous contributions to the growth and fabric of Dallas,” he said. “I just look forward to celebrating their achievements again.”

Carter said the upcoming edition will feature special sections highlighting the city’s most influential, living legends, governmental leaders, lawyers, doctors, media professionals, community and faith-based leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, emerging leaders, future leaders and others.

Who’s Who Publishing, a subsidiary of Detroit-based Real Times Media, has grown to publish annual editions in over 26 cities since its founding in Atlanta more than 25 years ago.
