When Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the Ephesians, he urged the believers to experienced three important things in their spiritual lives that he had personally experienced. As a mentor to the Ephesians he wanted them to follow his example. He didn’t just tell them to do as he said; but to follow him as he follows Christ.
First, as a believer in Christ, God wants your heart enlightened in order to know the hope to which He has called you. God has called each of us to a purpose, a future and a hope. Many people do not nor can they realize the dreams that they envision for their lives. But because Apostle Paul experienced this, he prayed that every believer will experience the joy that the eyes of their heart are enlightened to know a purpose, a future and a hope.
Second, God’s desire for every believer is to know that there is an inheritance for each believer in Jesus Christ. There are spiritual riches that are laid up for every saint. If a believer is faithful to God’s calling in his/her life, there is a reward for your faithfulness and trust in God. And, there will be God’s peace for the believer.
The third important thing that Apostle Paul wants every believer to experience is the power that is available to every believer. Apostle Paul often exhorted believers not to look at his persuasive words, but the demonstration of the power of God in his life. He wants every believer to know that the same power that is available to him in Christ is available to them. Remember, Jesus said that believer would do even greater than He did, because He would send the Holy Spirit to believers.
As a believer in Christ, you should pray that God reveals your purpose, your future and the hope that exists inside you; to be encouraged that there is an inheritance awaiting you; and to know that you have God’s power residing in you and all that you have to do is exercise your faith to release it. God sees the big picture, and you need help to see yourself as God sees you. You need help in understanding your role on earth. You should want to know how others see you. What you say and do in your life should glorify God. You should want to live the life that God planned for you.
