Usher’s tears: Women and drugs

By Ruth Ferguson, NDG Editor

Perhaps R&B crooner Usher should have simply quietly settled with his ex-wife Tamika Foster instead of pursuing his day in court. This has not been a banner week for the music superstar. Clearly it has been an emotional trying week given he was moved to tears on the witness stand when lawyers for Foster suggested he was a bad father. Foster’s team suggested he is interested in partying in Europe instead of being a good dad for their two sons, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond.

My question is what did the bailiff whisper to him at the end of the video? Was it “man up” or “come on brother keep it together?”

The couple has been divorced for three years but apparently the drama did not end when the divorce decree was signed. In court this week fans heard accusations about a different side to the popular singer’s personality:

  • Her lawyers claimed Usher called Foster a “b@tch” and told her to get the F out of his life (he denies)
  • Usher claims Foster spat on his girlfriend, demanding she get out of the car B because she was going to kick her a@@.  Usher indicated he did not press charges because he did not want to have the mother of his children arrested. (I guess Deion Sanders did not get that memo.)
  • He admitted to smoking weed, but claims he never used drugs in front of his children (does that make him father of the year)?

AND THEN – Foster’s lawyers asked Usher if one of the former nannies (who is now employed again) left because they were caught in bed with him? Maya Fox Davis was not only a nanny but also a bridesmaid in their wedding. Is that what you call having your cake and eating it too?

It is just ugly. My sympathies go to the kids who are pawns in their parent’s power struggle.

The Atlanta trial is in recess until July.
