The sale of Soul 73 AM radio station signals the end of an era for Dallas radio

For many years Dallas radio listeners have enjoyed KKDA Soul 73 over the AM airwaves. The station provided R&B music, news and was a key forum for community news. It was THE talk radio home for African American news fans with popular radio hosts such as Willis B. Johnson on politics and faith and Roger B. Brown on sports. The end of era came with the announcement the frequency was sold by Service Broadcasting to SKR Partners reportedly for $1.9 million.

It is perhaps not too surprising given the fact they laid off almost all staff in May 2012, with Wills B. Johnson being the notable exception as we reported last year.

The new owners include Kimberly Roberts and Scott Kim, is now offering Korean programming.
