Medical Center of McKinney donates $30,000 to three local charities

Medical Center of McKinney donates $30,000 to local charities

Medical Center of McKinney (MCM) and it Medical Staff donated $30,000 to three local charities – The Community Food Pantry of McKinney, Children and Community Health Center of McKinney and Community Lifeline Center.

Both MCM and its Medical Staff donated $5,000, for a total of $10,000, to all three charities.

“Both Medical Center of McKinney and our Medical Staff are pleased to make donations of this level to these three deserving organizations that serve our community so well,” said Ernest C. Lynch, III, MCM President and CEO. “McKinney is so fortunate to have organizations that provide food and healthcare to people in need.”

The Children & Community Health Center of McKinney (CCHC) provides no-cost, basic healthcare to the underserved members of McKinney and Northern Collin County. While part-time Nurse Practitioners provide medical care in the day clinics, volunteer physicians, nurses, student nurses, translators and office staff fulfill roles in both day clinics and the evening clinics.

“This donation helps us serve a population in northern Collin County that does not have health insurance. This past year we cared for more than 3,000 individuals and had more than 8,000 patient visits,” said Sandy Dickey, Executive Director of CCHC. “The contribution Medical Center of McKinney and its medical staff has made will allow us to help our patients have healthier and happier lives.”

The Community Lifeline Center helps local residents manage short term crises and navigate their way back to self-sufficiency. This assistance ranges from financial help – funds for rent, utilities, food, gas cards- to medical or prescription assistance, counseling, job search training, credit and budget counseling and advocacy. The money provided by Medical Center of McKinney will be designated for prescription assistance.

“This donation gives Community Lifeline more freedom to help our clients obtain needed prescriptions and medical supplies that they might otherwise not be able to afford,” said Christine Hockin-Boyd, Executive Director of Community Lifeline. “We provide people support on a short-term basis, and are excited to help more people with their medicines and supplies.”

The Community Food Pantry of McKinney is a non-profit outreach program that provides food to families and individuals in need and has been a vital part of our community for 30 years.

“Medical Center of McKinney and its medical staff has supported the Community Food Pantry for a number of years, and their donations go far in helping us feed our community,” said Carol Bodwell, director of the Community Food Pantry. “This $10,000 donation will go toward purchasing food, beyond what we receive through food drives, and will help fund about 25 percent of all total food purchases for the year.”
