SMU Cox School of Business and the Dallas Marathon board of directors announced the results of the 2012 SMU Cox Corporate Relay Challenge presented by Behringer Harvard.  The announcement was made at a reception in the James M. Collins Executive Education Center at SMU’s Cox School of Business.

“We have seen fantastic participation from the business community in this year’s Corporate Relay Challenge,” said Kevin Snyder, chairman of the Dallas Marathon board of directors. “Dallas corporations show their support for local health and fitness initiatives by committing to this challenge every year, and they also support our wonderful beneficiary, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.”

The relay challenge, which is now in its seventh year at the MetroPCS® Dallas Marathon, consists of five-person relay team. In 2012, a record number of participating corporations registered more than 215 total teams.

“SMU Cox School of Business is proud to once again co-sponsor the Corporate Relay Challenge,” said Kevin Knox, assistant dean of external relations at SMU Cox. “This event offers us a great opportunity to support the important cause of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and its patients.”

For the sixth time since the race’s inception, BNSF Velocity captured the prize of Fastest Corporate Team. Relay teams compete in a variety of categories for a total of $30,000 in prize money, which is given directly to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) – one of the nation’s leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopaedic conditions – in the names of the respective corporations.

“We are proud to serve our seventh year as co-sponsor of the Corporate Relay Challenge,” said Jason Mattox, chief operating officer for Behringer Harvard. “We were also thrilled to have our employees participate, forming eight relay teams and 40 volunteers. This event exemplifies the generous spirit of the local business community, and we love being a part of it.”
