Frisco IS Sports new initiative

image012Frisco, Texas is committed to attracting and promoting statewide, regional and national sports events and sports related meetings to the city.

And, to take matters a step further, Frisco IS Sports has been created. See YouTube video.

“Our plan is to build on what we have already been doing, which is working closely with our partners to bring small and large scale tournaments and events to Frisco and to continue to market our great facilities,” says Frisco CVB Executive Director, Marla Roe.

This initiative will operate under the umbrella of the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau. The current CVB Advisory Board will assist in strategic planning, as well as local corporate connections and partnerships. Frisco IS Sports will be primarily funded by the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Mayor Maso commented, “We love sports in Frisco and getting this initiative off the ground is a great way to engage not only our residents, but local corporations and our sports partners. We hope to create a legacy of community involvement and provide economic vitality for Frisco.”

Frisco is known not only for its world class sports venues, but is home to 3 professional sports teams, and was named the “Top Place to Raise an Athlete” by Men’s Journal in 2011. Frisco is also home to exciting events such as NCAA Division I Football Championships, and has hosted traditional events like soccer and basketball, as well as figure skating, cycling, trampoline and ice hockey!
