The Services include job readiness training: how to complete applications, work place expectations, communication skills, mock interviews and job search training and assistance. The League’s Workforce Development Specialists provide job coaching and training services and through its extensive network of corporate and other employers, job placement assistance is also provided to clients. Free transportation to job interviews and employment opportunities in the suburbs is also available.
“The very generous donation from The UPS Foundation will help improve our employment programs, eliminate many barriers our clients face when looking for a job and encourage rapid entry into the workforce,” said Dr. Beverly Mitchell-Brooks, Urban League President and CEO.
Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, GA, The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: nonprofit effectiveness, encouraging diversity, community safety and environmental sustainability.
“The UPS Foundation is honored to support the Urban League of Greater Dallas’ efforts to provide job readiness training and placement assistance to low and moderate income citizens of Dallas County,” said Eduardo Martinez, President of The UPS Foundation. “Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to global community.”
