Sheila Peragine selected as principal of Irving ISD’s Elliott Elementary School

irving isdSheila Peragine, who has served as assistant principal for L.V. Stockard Middle School in Dallas ISD since 2012, has been named principal for Elliott Elementary School.

Peragine started her career in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) in 2001 as a bilingual kindergarten teacher at George Peabody Elementary School, where she served until 2010. From 2010 to 2012, Peragine worked as an assistant principal at DISD’s J.T. Brashear Elementary School.

“I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature, intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially,” says Peragine. “As an instructional leader my focus is on the desired result – student achievement. This can be achieved by having clear goals, an action plan for implementation, a positive attitude and nonetheless never forgetting that it is our professional responsibility to ensure that our children are getting the best education.”

“Ms. Peragine has clearly demonstrated from her performances as an elementary school and middle school administrators that she understands and proactively supports teachers and staff in their work to help all students reach their fullest potential,” says Irving ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jose Parra. “She possesses remarkable passion, a great work ethic, and a love for children that will serve the students, staff, and community of Irving ISD extremely well. I look forward to her joining and leading the Elliott Elementary School family.”

Peragine holds a bachelor’s degree in international business in Spanish from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition she holds a master’s degree in education leadership from Texas Woman’s University and attended the Teaching Trust Executive Education Program.
