cincoIs there anything Dallasites love more than a holiday party? (OK football but the fall is a long way off!) Several local hotspots are offering plenty chances for food and food for Cinco de Mayo next week. They include:

The City of Irving and DCET is hosting the 2016 Cinco De Mayo Multicultural Festival, Education, Health & Job Fair on May 7 at 10 a.m.
4th Cinco De Mayo Festival in Historic Downtown Garland kicks off at 11 a.m. and will  include Ballet Folklorico, Mariachi’s from GISD’s and Grito Contest plus Live Music.

Now somehow we think Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s Independence Day—the most important national holiday in Mexico— but that is actually Sept. 16. The May 5th holiday is actually related to the Mexico’s defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. But why let facts get in the way of a party right?
