Irving ISD and the City of Irving released statements regarding the lawsuit filed by the family of Ahmed Mohamed, commonly referred to as “Clock Boy.” The federal lawsuit filed by his family seeks $15 million and requests apology from the school district. They are alleging he suffered “wrongful interrogation” because he is of his race.

Irving ISD said:

“Legal counsel for Irving ISD has confirmed that the school district was named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed today in Dallas federal court by attorneys for a former Irving ISD student. As with any legal matter of this nature, attorneys for the school district will review the filing and respond as appropriate. Irving ISD continues to deny violating the student’s rights and will respond to claims in accordance with court rules. Because this matter is now in litigation, Irving ISD officials will have no further comment at this time. Irving ISD employees are focused on welcoming 35,000 students for the 2016-2017 academic year and doing everything possible to ensure each student is achieving his or her maximum potential.”

City of Irving’s statement:

“The city of Irving is prepared to vigorously defend itself and the justifiable actions it took in this matter. The legal process will allow all facts to be revealed, and the city welcomes that opportunity. The city of Irving’s top priority is to ensure the safety and security of its children and the entire community. The city will continue to take its duty and responsibility to serve and protect the public seriously.”

  1. It isn’t my wish to give “clock boy” air time, however, this is my take.
First and foremost SHAME on “clock boy’s” parents for using their son as a pawn to further their own agenda. I believe they were fully aware of the ramifications of their sons actions. They used him to be able to scream “Foul play, Racism, and Lawsuit”.
Our President flew “clock boy” to D.C. and declared his clock a work of ingenuity. Well, I’m sorry, there’s nothing ingenious about pulling the back off a clock, pulling out the wires to expose them, and putting it in a metal box to make it look like something other than what it was. Again, SHAME on “clock boy’s” parents!
They moved to Qatar to “protect” their son only to find there was no work available. In Qatar they’ve were living in subsidized housing and surviving on food stamps. They have now moved back to the land of milk and honey to again pursue their dreams, work, and file a twelve million dollar law suit against the Irving ISD.
I pray this law suit gets dismissed as frivolous and ridiculous. As a mater of fact I think Irving ISD should counter sue the parents of “clock boy” for child abuse. I believe using their son as a pawn is a form of child abuse.
“Clock boy” claims he’s lost the ability to be creative. Really? He also claims he fears for his life when in public. Really? What about the fear he instilled in his teacher, fellow class mates, staff, and the rest of the students when they thought he brought a bomb to school? I guess they don’t matter. Again, SHAME on “clock boy’s” parents.
You can bet your sweet ass if any other boy had pulled the same stunt their parents would have accepted the suspension and increased the punishment by grounding them for life, well, maybe until they became an adult.
    Rant over.

  2. I in no way support what happened to Ahmed, but at the same time, why did the family move back to Qatar so quickly if there is nothing to hide? I hope the stories about the parents are NOT true. Poor child.
