Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated – Kappa Zeta Chapter (Dallas, Texas), will continue its 2020, celebration during its Finer Womanhood Centennial Tea.

During this Centennial event, the chapter’s “Woman of the Year” and “Zeta of the Year “will be announced. Members of the local chapter for 25 and 50-years will also be honored.

The tea will take place on Feb. 22, at the DeSoto Civic Center – 211 E Pleasant Run Rd, DeSoto Texas 75115, from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M.

Unique to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, is the ideal of Finer Womanhood, which is one of Zeta’s principals. The trademark Sorority celebration was first introduced in 1923. However, between 1972-1974, International President Isabel M. Herson sparked the tradition of declaring the last full week of February and the entire month of March as Finer Womanhood Month.

Finer Womanhood celebrations around the globe emphasize the standards, morals, customs, and attributes of fine young ladies, community, and Sorority members. Local programming is organized throughout the Finer Womanhood celebration to encourage rededication to Sorority ideals, increase community consciousness, and empower its citizens.

Chapters plan programs which may include a religious service, as well as a week emphasizing the standards, morals, customs, and attributes of finer women. Chapters often recognize an outstanding woman in their community based on such criteria as scholarship, religious activity, community service, and character.
