The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden will commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary with discounted admission and a weekend of family-friendly activities during its Independence Day celebration.
On Saturday, July 4, general admission will be offered for $17.76, a symbolic price recognizing the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. The one-day promotion is part of the Arboretum’s three-day Independence Day Family Fun Weekend, scheduled for July 3-5.
The event will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature live music, educational programs and activities for visitors of all ages.
“It is America’s 250th birthday, and the Arboretum is celebrating with a family fun weekend,” said Sabina Carr, president and CEO of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. “The celebration includes a $17.76 ticket on the Fourth, three days of programming, Hunt Slonem’s work everywhere you look, and the gardens at their summer best as they show off nature’s fireworks.”
Weekend activities include performances on the Concert Stage by Alpha Dogs on July 3, Rick Dudley on July 4 and The Coppertones on July 5. Jeanne’s Pavilion will host piano performances by Rebecca Cordes on Independence Day and Music Starz Studios on July 5.
Families can also visit a petting zoo presented by Country Critters in Pecan Grove, watch cooking demonstrations as part of the Garden Chef Series at A Tasteful Place and tour the historic DeGolyer House to learn more about the estate’s history.
The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden will offer STEM-focused educational activities throughout the weekend.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore a large-scale outdoor exhibition by contemporary artist Hunt Slonem. The installation, featuring 37 works displayed throughout the gardens, will remain on view through Sept. 30 and represents the largest outdoor exhibition of the artist’s career.
The discounted $17.76 admission is available only on July 4. Regular admission prices will apply on July 3 and July 5.
Founded in 1984 on the historic DeGolyer and Camp estates, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden encompasses 66 acres along White Rock Lake. The nonprofit institution welcomes more than 1 million visitors annually and is recognized as one of the nation’s leading public gardens.
