McKinney, Texas (June 20, 2026) — Hundreds of cyclists from across North Texas gathered in downtown McKinney on Saturday for the 6th Annual Soul Patrol Juneteenth Bicycle Rally, an event that celebrated the history of Juneteenth while promoting health, fitness and community engagement.
Hosted by the Soul Patrol Foundation, the annual rally welcomed riders of all ages and experience levels, transforming the area around McKinney City Hall into a daylong celebration featuring cycling, music, food and family activities.
Participants chose from four supported routes spanning 12, 25, 44 or 66 miles through McKinney and surrounding Collin County communities. Although changing weather created challenges early in the day, organizers said the event concluded safely as conditions improved and riders completed their courses.
In addition to the ride, attendees enjoyed music from DJ TDK, refreshments, food vendors and a festival atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the annual event.
Organizers credited the rally’s success to the support of sponsors, volunteers and public safety agencies. Major sponsors included Toyota, Medical City Healthcare, Cadence Cyclery, Carrier, North Star Diagnostic Imaging, Credit Union of Texas, Majic 94.5 FM, Prosperity Bank and H-E-B, along with numerous local businesses and community organizations.
The Soul Patrol Foundation said the rally is designed to be inclusive, bringing together families, recreational cyclists, competitive riders and first-time participants to encourage healthy lifestyles and strengthen community connections.
Since its founding, the nonprofit organization has focused on expanding access to cycling while supporting education and community service initiatives. The foundation has awarded more than $75,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors, donated bicycles to youth in underserved communities and promoted health and wellness programs throughout North Texas.
Organizers said the Juneteenth Bicycle Rally reflects the organization’s broader mission of creating healthier communities through service and recreation.
“Each year we learn something new that makes the event even better,” said Hillis Davis, co-founder of the Soul Patrol Foundation. “We’re grateful to every cyclist, volunteer, sponsor, public safety agency and community partner who helped make this year’s rally a success. Planning for our seventh annual Soul Patrol Juneteenth Bicycle Rally is already underway, and we look forward to welcoming even more riders in 2027.”
Foundation President Dr. James Guess said the organization’s work extends beyond cycling events.
“One Ride. One Bike. One Scholarship. Changing Lives,” Guess said.
The Soul Patrol Foundation offers cycling events, educational programs, volunteer opportunities and community outreach initiatives throughout the year.
