Campbell is joined by Charles Malik Whitfield, Jaden Lucas Miller and makes her film reunion with AJ Johnson – the two previously starred together in the cult classic House Party.
Additional titles for the Love of a Lifetime slate will be forthcoming.
Joy Walker (Campbell) is a devoted, single mother who has spent her entire life taking care of everyone but herself, from her church, her community, and above all, her teenage basketball phenom son Chaz (Miller).

When tragedy strikes and Chaz is suddenly diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor, Joy is faced with battling doctors, tackling bills, and forced to join forces with her ex, Royce (Whitfield) to navigate their new norm. As Chaz’s health deteriorates, Joy begins to realize that a lifetime of living for others has left her with no idea who she is on her own.
With Royce’s unexpected support and a community determined to keep her from disappearing beneath the weight of her responsibilities, Joy begins the difficult journey of reclaiming her identity.
In the midst of heartbreak, fear, and unimaginable sacrifice, she discovers that saving herself may be the first step toward saving the people she loves most.
One Last Shot is produced by FOX Entertainment Studios. Adam Shepard, Larry Grimaldi, Hannah Pillemer and Fernando Szew executive produce for the studio. Mychael G. Chinn and Tisha Campbell also serve as executive producers along with co-executive producer, Dani Wright.
Erica Sutherlin (Kirk Franklin’s A Gospel Christmas) directs from a script by Tisha Campbell and Dani Wright. FOX Entertainment Global will distribute the film internationally.
Campbell began her entertainment career as a child, appearing on television programs such as The Big Blue Marble before making her feature film debut as Chiffon in the 1986 musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors. She followed this with roles in Spike Lee’s School Daze (1988), the NBC series Rags to Riches (1987–1988), and the hit comedy House Party (1990)—for which she earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination—reprising her role as Sidney in its sequels. Additional film credits from this period include Boomerang (1992) and Sprung (1997), and she also released a self-titled R&B album in 1992/1993.
Campbell achieved widespread recognition starring as Gina Waters-Payne opposite Martin Lawrence on the Fox sitcom Martin (1992–1997), then as Janet “Jay” Kyle opposite Damon Wayans on ABC’s My Wife and Kids (2001–2005), winning an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for the latter. She has continued working steadily in television with roles in series such as Rita Rocks, Dr. Ken, Outmatched, and Netflix’s Uncoupled (2022), along with voice work, producing, and more recent ventures into stand-up comedy, maintaining a versatile presence across film, TV, and music for decades.
