Evidence from an autopsy on Sandra Bland, the black woman found hanging dead in a Texas jail days after a traffic stop, supports the coroner’s initial ruling of suicide, a county prosecutor told reporters on Thursday.
The preliminary results also found marijuana in Bland’s system, though officials are seeking additional tests to confirm that finding, Waller County Assistant District Attorney Warren Diepraam said.
Her family’s attorney, Cannon Lambert reportedly has called for a second independent autopsy because they believe there are too many discrepancies.
The second revelation, and one that is rather bizarre,  is a claim of evidence of marijuana in Bland’s system, and that she took or used the drugs while in custody. So, although there were no claims of finding drugs on her or in the car at the time of her arrest, her family was thousands of miles away but suddenly she had access to drugs in jail. This is not a federal jail where there can be networks set up to deliver drugs inside. This is not even Dallas County where they can likely have an interesting network going – this is in Waller Country.
The way the family attorney received the info is just as strange according to this report:
“Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis made the disclosure in a text message to attorney Cannon Lambert, who has called the state’s autopsy on the Chicago-area woman defective, Lambert said.
“Looking at the autopsy results and toxicology, it appears she swallowed a large quantity of marijuana or smoked it in the jail,” Mathis said in a text message to Lambert that the attorney provided to Reuters.”

If this is the case the Texas Attorney General should be launching a full investigation of how badly their jail is being ran if she was able to get the drugs while in custody. Any one that has been arrested or watch an episode or two of any law enforcement television shows know the full intake process includes a body cavity search to ensure that the suspect is not being locked up with contraband search as drugs or weapons.
Really how stupid are they or better yet how stupid do they think we are? Why are we not out there protesting and boycotting this young ladies death. Why are we not asking for a special investigation? Why are we not any louder then we are? This town is on a major feeder to Prairie View A & M. Don’t stop there for gas, food or Wal-Mart.
