There was a regular traffic stop gone bad in the early morning hours on Monday, August 20. The police pulled over a truck rig because of obvious brake altercations the truck was having, with the tires smoking. The green truck tractor was then pulled over in a routine traffic stop by a patrol officer, which occurred on I-20 in Dallas at the Bonnie View exit service road ramp. This is a common area for 18-wheelers and truck stops.
When the officer looked in the rig, the suspect appeared to be acting erratically. The officer asked if there was someone else in the vehicle, in which the suspect responded “No.” The suspect was asked if the officer could check the cab and the suspect permitted. When the officer saw a body lying on the floorboard, he asked the suspect who it was and the suspect replied, “He is dead.”
When the suspect exited the truck cab, the officer saw that it was a body of a dead man with multiple stab wounds, likely the cause of death. While this homicide is under investigation, what is known of the victim found is that he is an African-American man between the ages of 40-50.
Initial reports stated the cab was stolen and it had Illinois license plates.
The driver of the cab was detained and brought into custody of DPD and held for questioning.
His clothes he was wearing were collected and revealed blood stains on them.
The truck driver, who has now been identified as Roderick Jordan, has officially been charged with Murder in the first degree, with an affidavit for his arrest.
Jordan is charged with stabbing the unknown victim to death.
