Suspect turns himself in via Facebook to Dallas Police for a 2010 murder

On April 2, 2010, in the 3100 block of Chapel Creek, a suspect walked up to a parked vehicle in which the victim was sitting and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle killing the victim. The Dallas Police Homicide detectives investigated the murder and identified the suspect as Augustin Gonzalez (08-28-68) An arrest warrant was issued but the suspect had fled the country.

On Friday, Aug 24 Augustin Gonzalez posted on the Northeast Division’s Facebook page that he wanted to turn himself in to law enforcement but was still in Mexico.  Detectives were able to communicate with Mr. Gonzalez via Facebook and told him to walk to the nearest border check point to turn himself in to US Authorities.    

Sometime after 11 p.m. on Friday, Gonzalez walked to the US Border near Juarez, Mexico and turned himself into authorities.  Augustin Gonzalez is now in the San Diego County Jail on his Murder warrant waiting for an extradition hearing.
