By Kendria Brown, NDG Intern

Ernest Osei Addo is alleged to have posed as a doctor and treated as many as 500 senior citizens. Addo is a 48-year-old Georgian who used his friend’s identity, who happens to be a licensed physician. Addo is accused of unlawful medical practice took place at five South Carolina facilities for senior citizens.

Addo was detained at the Cobb County Detention Center located in Georgia, until his extradition to South Carolina. Authorities are investigating the facts surrounding this charlatan and his doctor impersonation. Officials want to know what treatment Addo administered to the elderly patients at Agape Senior Primary Care and if he ever received any medical training at all.

When Addo applied to Agape Senior Primary Care, he passed as his friend who is a real physician. While using the licensed doctor’s identity, he received recommendation and was accepted to work in Agape’s network of nursing homes. Impersonating a real physician, Addo treated hundreds of senior citizens until his friend discovered the fraudulent activity.

Addo’s friend, a licensed doctor, found out that Addo stolen his identity and was an unauthorized user of his credit cards.

Addo quit without notice on August 22, which happened to be the same day his friend complained of identity theft to the police.
