Hurricane Isaac threatens New Orleans and displaced animals brought to North Texas

New Orleans’ people braced themselves and prepared for storm Isaac and its wrath.  Seven years ago on this day, Hurricane Katrina powered through and showed no mercy as it damaged everything and everyone in its path. Today, Hurricane Isaac has potential of causing great damage too. There is expected to be hard and heavy rain in New Orleans, increasing the likelihood of flooding damages. Animals threatened by this weather were evacuated to North Texas in Dallas and McKinney areas.

“181 animals from the Gulf Coast arrived in North Texas today from animal shelters threatened by Hurricane Isaac.

The SPCA of Texas says it received 87 cats and 60 dogs from the Louisiana SPCA in New Orleans.  34 cats from the Humane Society in Gulfport, Mississippi were also transferred to North Texas.”
