Blossoming Lotus Lanterns at Fair Park Lagoon

In preparation for the Chinese Lantern Festival, which kicked off on Sept. 28, in partnership with the 126th Annual State Fair of Texas, a helicopter was used to place three blossoming lotus lantern sets into the lagoon at Fair Park.

The helicopter was an alternative plan to using cranes to ensure no damage occurs to any walkway at historic Fair Park. One of the lantern sets is 25 ft. tall, and to the Chinese Lantern Festival’s knowledge this is the first time a helicopter has been used to assist in building a festival of this kind.
