2012 KWANZAA Community Choir Rehearsal is for all ages and skill levels to join in ONE voice, bringing the Funk and Uplifting Message of KWANZAA. The event takes place on the following dates and times:
- Dec. 17 at 6-8pm
- Dec. 22 at 12-2pm
- Dec. 23 at 4-6pm
Performance Ralley is on Dec. 26, 2012 at 1 p.m., at the 2012 Kwanzaa Ralley at Pan African Connection Bookstore, Art Gallery and Resource Center; Kwanzaa Community Choir Rehearsal will also take place inside Pan African Connection Bookstore Art Gallery and Resource Center, located at 828 Fourth Ave.
The workshop aims in teaching the seven songs composed by Jason Davis to the community choir participants. This will be done by Jason Davis and Candace Miller. Copies of the lyrics to the songs will be supplied at the first two rehearsals. Participant will be expected to have the songs memorized by the final two rehearsal sessions. Participants don’t have to come to all sessions in order to perform but are expected to give 100% effort while rehearsing and performing. Jason Davis will supply musical accompaniment that will assist all participants with the proper mood as intended by the composer.
Each musical work corresponds with a principle of Kwanzaa. The Music has African diaspora flavor and is contemporary in nature. Dallas citizens will be invited to learn these songs with the intent to sing them in the Kwanzaa Rally on Dec. 26, 2012.
