Texas SCLC: “Teacher Committed Hate Crime.”

The president of the Texas Southern Christian Leadership Conference (Texas SCLC) has declared the pouring of pencil shavings down a 13 year-old a hate crime.

“Based on the facts of this case and the hateful, harmful and hurtful actions of Mrs. Melody Soroka actions and the eventual official oppression of administration officials, we believe we have enough evidence to call this crime a hate crime,” says Rev. Kyev Tatum, president of the Texas SCLC.

The Texas SCLC will ask the United States Justice Department to prosecute this case.

Texas Teacher Melody Soroka is accused of racism after pouring pencil shavings into student’s mouth. She was reprimanded earlier in the year and apologized to the student in front of the class. However, Texas SCLC believes the school district attempted to cover-up the incident and did not properly respond to the situation.

  1. …hmmm…what about charging the teacher with breaking the law that prohibits an improper relationship between a teacher and student…and what the law that prohibits the assault of a person – in this case the student…and what about the law that prohibits “official oppression…the teacher was certainly an official in this case who oppressed the student…she certainly should not be allowed to continue as a teacher and a civil suit should certainly be filed against the teacher for violating the civil rights of the student in addition to other violations…just saying…why let the teacher off so easily???
