2013 SolJazz Music Festival in Dallas June 7-16

The 2013 SolJazz Fest is saddling up for Primetime Dallas…Finale Celebration Juneteenth/ Father’s Day Weekend at Skyline Ranch

Multi-day entertainment events will feature national recording artist Cherrelle “Ms. Saturday Love”

DALLAS – 2012 saw the likes of Cameo, Rachelle Ferrell, Doug E. Fresh. MC Lyte and Pieces of A Dream. 2013 will continue to shine the spotlight on lesser known artists like smooth jazz saxophonist Vandell Andrew, while still basking in the fanfare of artist like the “Saturday Love R&B Diva “Cherrelle,” as more artists are announced.

The2013 SolJazz Festival (SJF) finale week is held from June 7 – 16. Between the months of March and June, there will be numerous ancillary events aligned with the SolJazz brand, including SolJazzy Hours, Comedy Shows and retail events that will include radio stations, prizes, and ticket contests. All of the exciting, interactive and participatory events will involve any or all of the five major components: Family, Health, Music, Food and Fun!

The SJF Calendar of Events will showcase “SolJazzy Hour” events at select “Official SolJazz Partner” venues where consumers can win SolJazz tickets and VIP access.

Saturday, June 15 also known as “SOLJAZZ SATURDAY” will highlight an All-Star lineup of exciting performances from international, national and local musical artists including Cherrelle! The grounds of Skyline Ranch will be home to a mass group of families, music aficionado’s, and community organizations like Operation Community Care, a DeSoto based 501©3 that helps mentor, provide educational support, develop leadership skills and address the issue of obesity in at risk youth living in Southern Dallas County. There is also a SolJazz HS Scholarship component.

“Chef’s Corner” competition is a new component which involves metroplex area chefs competing to be the “SolJazz Top Chef of 2013-2014.” VIP’s and special guests have the option to enjoy the Chef’s cuisine especially prepared for SolJazz Saturday. Votes will be cast and the winner will be announced on stage receiving a cash prize and select gifts. There will also be an honorable mention prize awarded for “Best Dish.”

Back again, count in Food Trucks, Food Vendors, Retail Vendors and a host of Community Groups. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is co-sponsoring the SolJazz Saturday Health & Wellness Area complete with blood pressure & glucose checks, nurses and pamphlets with health, nutrition and fitness information. Also for the 2nd year, the ADA will benefit from the “Walk For Diabetes Prevention” to be held at the beautiful Zeiger Park in DeSoto on Saturday, June 8th @ 9:00am.

For 2013, 2nd year partners and sponsors Walmart, Near Future, Cedar Crest Golf Course, Southwest Mobile Advertising, Warningradio.com, Holiday Inn Express & Suites DeSoto, ADA, Fishbowl Radio, Dnites.com and the Towne Place Suites by Marriott, DeSoto are teaming up with Gemstone Management to keep the SolJazz Festival in the metroplex for years to come.

Dallas native and US Navy veteran, Meredith Capleton is busy trying to ensure a 3rd year will be successful, while currently working on this 2nd year. “The metroplex (Dallas) is so used to the one & done show or promoters coming to town with high prices, venues charging $20 or more to park and getting their quick fix and breaking out. Well I am a native of Dallas and I actually care what happens in my city and community, and the SolJazz Festival represents that…Community First. We are in dire needs of an event that is not more commercial then community.

SolJazz Festival is that event and the first year was a great start!”
