Deadline is May 10 Texas Tech Architectural two-week program for high school students

In May of 2007, Curtis Clerkley, Jr., Principal of The Clerkley Watkins Group in Houston, began working with David Driskill, Associate Professor, and Kathy Johnson, Director of Development, of the College of Architecture (COA) at Texas Tech University to establish an endowment that would support a high school summer program in the College.

In July of 2007, the Curtis W. Clerkley, Jr. Architecture Academy for High School Students was established. The program is now under the direction of Michael Peters, Coordinator of External Programs and Professor at the College of Architecture.

The first week of the 2013 Curtis W. Clerkley, Jr. Architecture Academy will be held in Dallas known for its rich downtown architecture and magnificent skyline. The students will travel to Lubbock during the second week.

This two-week summer experience is designed for juniors and seniors in high school from the Dallas area. Students will gain an insight into the profession of architecture, its culture and education. The first week in Dallas is a day program based at the Dallas Center for Architecture. Students are responsible for their own housing. The second week is based at Texas Tech University with residence housing provided by the Academy. The students will return to Dallas for final presentations with family and friends.

Tuition for the two-week program, including transportation, materials, housing, meals and round-trip airfare from Dallas/Lubbock is $1,500.00. Applications are due by May 10. Please contact Michael Peters if you have any questions or would like to support the program: michael.peters@ttu.edu or 806-742-3136.
