DALLAS – The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) reminds music fans of two exciting, brand-new concert experiences to be unveiled across North Texas from Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13.
On Friday-Saturday, October 11-12 at 7 p.m., Music Director Jaap van Zweden will lead the first concerts of ReMix, a new concert series at Dallas City Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts District. Featured soloists will be DSO Principal Oboist Erin Hannigan performing the lively Concerto for Oboe d’amore in A major by J.S. Bach and DSO Principal Cellist Christopher Adkins playing the bold, virtuosic Sinfonia Concertante by Prokofiev. Maestro van Zweden will also conduct the DSO string section in the Expressionistic tone poem Transfigured Night by Schoenberg.
On Sunday, October 13 at 6:30 PM, Maestro van Zweden will make his DSO on the GO series debut at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco when he conducts an exciting program featuring the full power and glory of the DSO performing the passionate Symphony No. 5 by Tchaikovsky, with a reprise performance of Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante with cellist Christopher Adkins as soloist. ReMix at Dallas City Performance Hall is a new concert experience exploring changes in the look and feel of a traditional concert format. Some of the key components of ReMix will be an earlier start time, complimentary beverage and appetizers before the show, the ability for patrons to bring their drink into the hall, and post-concert activities.
