The birthday girl, Donna Brazile, helped to make politics “cool” during President Barack Obama’s first quest to win the White House. The birthday boy, Don Johnson, had brothers around the country wearing pink and blue colors with pride.
In the 2008 campaign, many who stayed glued to CNN during the Democratic primary season met Donna Brazille for the first time. However, this political activist, was attending her first political rodeo. Today, Brazile celebrates her 54th birthday.
Brazile is not merely a political pundit but she has a long career as an activist, author and political strategist. Her blunt manner, soften with a southern smile, helped her to standout among the talking heads as the nation was riveted to Sen. Barack Obama vs. Sen. Hilliary Clinton in 2008. She has served as the an adjunct professor, author, syndicated columnist, television political commentator, Vice Chair of Voter Registration and Participation at the Democratic National Committee, and former interim National Chair of the Democratic National Committee as well as the former chair of the DNC’s Voting Rights Institute. Clearly a busy woman.
Don Johnson, teamed up with Philip Michael Thomas, to protect the Miami shoreline in Miami Vice and created a fashion craze wearing pastel colors and t-shirts paired with suit jackets. You cannot hear the theme song and not think of the then sexy Don Johnson.
Johnson, has since had his shares of problems with addiction and divorces (Melanie Griffith being perhaps the best known ex), but has settled down nicely with his fifth wife, Kelly Phleger.
Last seen opposite Jamie Foxx in the Oscar winning Django Unchained, 2014 looks like it will be a busy year for Johnson. He apparently has a guest starring role upcoming on From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and is scheduled to appear in three movies next year.
