Panelists for Feb. 22 Conversations about Race announced

DALLAS – The City of Dallas announced the panelists for second installment of a multiple-part series called Conversations about Race, a dialogue and discussion about race. The second event will focus on Economic Opportunities and will be held in the Dallas City Hall Council Chambers, 1500 Marilla Street at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.

Panelists include local chambers of commerce and contractors associations, business leaders, elected officials, civil rights leaders, persons in leadership positions in various communities and members of the media. They include the following:

  • Joe Tave, Founder Kimball Heights HOA, Educator & Community Activist
  • Hector Flores, Former National President – League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)
  • Mark Davis, Conservative Radio Host, 660AM
  • Katrina Keyes, President & CEO K Strategies Group
  • Hilda Duarte, Educator & Community Activist
  • Jim Schutze, Dallas Observer
  • Wilton Munnings, ‎President/COO at Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce
  • John H. Martinez, President The Regional Hispanic Contractors Association
  • Candice Quarrels, President of the Urban League of Greater Dallas’ Young Professionals
  • Ramiro Luna, Dream Act Activist
  • Lex Trevino – LGBT and community Activist

James Belt, Dallas Examiner and Ken Benson, Executive Director at Dallas Breakfast Club will serve as moderators. invite the public to attend the free event and take part in the discussions.

The format will include significant time for questions and comments from audience members at the beginning of the program followed by discussion by the panelists.

Participants can park in the lot behind City Hall for free or park in one of the private lots at a cost. Participants are encouraged to take DART and must enter City Hall on the south side of the building.

Seating is limited and advanced registration is required. To register visit www.conversationsaboutrace.eventbrite.com. Tickets not claimed 15 minutes before the start of the event will be released on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Registration does not guarantee a seat; those wishing to attend shouldarrive early. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
