LOS ANGELES — A long standing dispute between The Hollywood Reporter & Aramid Entertainment Fund Director David Molner, andentrepreneur/financier David Bergstein has boiled over into federal court. In a complaint filed on February 19 in New York, David Bergstein provides details and evidence outlining a strategic and deliberate collusion between the Hollywood Reporter and David Molner to defame and injure Bergstein and his investment interests.

To date, all of the legal disputes between the parties have resulted in judgments in favor of Bergstein. This is the first formal complaint filed by Bergstein in this matter and the complaint’s detail and characterization has all the elements of an Oscar winning drama.

When asked about the complaint, David Bergstein stated the following, “We look forward to the Courts careful review of the facts and circumstances in this case. It is quite troubling that a publication that claims to be ‘the definitive interpretative voice of the entertainment industry’ is actually in the business of defamation and smear tactics.”

An excerpt from the complaint which seeks $100 Million and an injunction reads, “This is an action for defamation and interference with business relations brought by David Bergstein against defendants The Hollywood Reporter and Prometheus Global Media LLC arising out of defendants’ statements and actions in defaming Mr. Bergstein, damaging and attempting to damage his reputation, interfering with, and attempting to interfere with, his business and interests, and aiding and/or conspiring with others to do the foregoing.”

Specifically, the complaint identifies dozens of articles written since 2010 that falsify actual events and facts and are seemingly designed to disparage Bergstein. Notably,The Hollywood Reporter used an illegal tape recording (sealed by court order) as a centerpiece in several media publications. The complaint includes several quotes by judges on prior proceedings which exonerate Bergstein and chastises the defendants for their actions.

The defendants have 30 days to respond to the complaint.

The full complaint is available for review here.
