LIMA, Ohio — No matter what vehicle segment anyone looks at, there is always one offering that seems to go against the grain and appear a little different from the rest. In the crowded SUV market, that offering is the 2014 Toyota 4Runner. One of the only vehicles left in production with a true body-on-frame design, the 4Runner remains one of the only vehicles in its class that is capable of serious off-road travels. One auto dealership that has been taking extra notice of the SUV’s above-average ability is Allan Nott Toyota.

When a vehicle is built with a true body-on-frame construction, like the 2014 Toyota 4Runner, it is able to stay much more composed during strenuous driving situations. This composure helps the vehicle keep its traction when driving surfaces become uneven or fouled with debris. In addition to the 4Runners body-on-frame construction, the gearbox and four-wheel drive system in which it uses features a lower setting than most SUVs. These lower settings allow for more precise engine torque to be sent to the 4Runners wheels, which reduces the likelihood of traction to be lost.

The 2014 Toyota 4Runner comes standard with one available engine, a 4.0-liter V-6. The engine produces a responsive 270 horsepower, which most drivers find to be the right amount for serious off-road as well as everyday highway and city driving situations. When properly equipped, the Toyota 4Runner can tow trailer weights of up to 4,700 pounds, a feature in which many drivers who live the “off-road” lifestyle find very attractive.
