NBC’s Brian Williams admits that he lied

brian-williams-nbc-nightly-newsBy Ruth Ferguson, Editor

OK so perhaps NBC’s anchorman Brian Williams is using a lot of words to avoid saying he lied, but bottomline that is what he did.

Here is how it would play out with my mama, “is what you said true?” and when I respond no she would say, “you lied.”

I had another friend who always said, “It’s the explanation that makes me mad,” when folks try to dig themselves out of a hole they know they have dug themselves into. At this point Williams convoluted excuses is quickly going into that zone and becoming just as damaging for his credibility as the original mistake.

Apparently Williams claimed to be on a helicopter in Iraq in 2003 that came under fire, in fact shot down. Only problem is – he was not. He offers a weak reason for how he misstated that, but really who in this world not suffering from PTSD would be confused about if they were on a plane that was SHOT DOWN in a war zone?

Then he loses all credibility when it is pointed out he didn’t misspeak once — it happened multiple times.

Read the story here and see if you can figure out the tangled web Williams has weaved.

What do you think will happen to him? Shouldn’t he at least be suspended for a little while?

Oh where or where is Walter Cronkite and Harry Reasoner?

  1. …ok, so NBC has a news reader (cause that’s what they do – read the teleprompter while they’re on TV) who lied one time about what plane he was on when shooting was probably going on….now let’s hear FOX news “fess up” about all the lies they tell on a regular basis on air…usually about (but not limited to) the president…
